Ready for Baby Holden

Well, I don’t know if anyone is ever REALLY ready for the newest member of their family….but we sure have been doing our best to try!  With less than 10 days to our due date, we finally feel like the important things are crossed off of the “to-do before baby” list.

We have registered with the hospital, packed a bag, reorganized the ENTIRE house, gotten Charlotte a special “big sister” shirt, put up our Christmas tree and last but certainly not least – decorated a new nursery!

Here are photos of the nursery, where my husband put up lots of moulding and did lots of painting – ENJOY!

And, the nursery was based around some Guy Harvey paintings that we were lucky enough to have him sign in person last time we went to Panama City!

And finally, I am pretty sure I am ready to have this baby! I am not sure how much more this skin could stretch!! Here is my almost 39 week photo –

Please excuse the ponytail (a bad habit) and the evil-looking fish behind me!

Finally – Two Years Later

Yes, I have painted numerous letters for numerous baby and child rooms…none of which were my own. Yes, I have a daughter and she is over two years old…and I have never gotten around to painting letters for her room. Well, I like to consider myself, not a procrastinator….but determined! Determined that I would one day paint letters for her room…and I FINALLY DID!

Her walls are yellow, with lots of green and pink accents around her room, so I painted her letters pink with trees, birds, butterflies, and even pink mushrooms!

Part of the Kimtown Team

After having the opportunity to work with the LOVELY Kim from Kimtown on our Kori & Kate site, she asked me about doing some freelance work for her. Of course, she has such fabulous websites, I was thrilled to be a part of the design, and jumped at the chance! I am now part of the Kimtown team. To read about it on her blog – CLICK HERE

I have done some website “skins” (basically a design collection to dress up your site) already and will be adding some splash pages very soon! Here’s a peek at one of my “skins” – CLICK HERE

FlashBack Friday

Although I am not flashing back too far (only one year ago) I am amazed to see just how much change can take place in one short year.

We can’t travel this year due to my …ummm…condition, but last year we were able to spend Thanksgiving with my parents, brother, sister in law, and favorite niece Anna Kate.
In one short year, since last Thanksgiving, Anna Kate has welcomed a little brother, Mason, who was born on July 31, 2009 and Charlotte will be welcoming her brother sometime in the coming few weeks.

All I can say, looking at these photos….babies surely do grow up way to fast!

Now you will have to excuse me, my hormones have started leaking and the tears are on their way.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

This is at the entrance to the Louisiana Children’s Museum in New Orleans :

I tried to teach

my child with books

He gave me only

puzzled looks

I tried to teach

my child with words

They passed him by

often unheard

Despairingly

I turned aside

“How shall I teach

this child?” I cried

Into my Hand

he put a key

“Come,” he said,

“play with me.”

Bella’s Birthday

When a friend told me the story of a little girl she knew, Bella, that had stage 4 neuroblastoma my heart just hurt. Bella is just a little older than my own daughter, and my friend’s daughter, so it hit home for us both.

Later, my super talented friend, Lindsey (of Bella Grace Party Designs), said she would be helping with things for Bella’s third birthday party and asked if I could do the invitations. Of course I jumped at the chance, as I didn’t know how else I could help.

Her mom went to my Etsy Shop, and picked out this card….

only she didn’t want to add a photo. (Photo above taken for my shop sample by Courtney Vickers of Courtney Vickers Photography)…

So, I redesigned the card for her, and decided the invitations would be even cuter with a glittery cupcake! Once the invites were ordered, I go to work using Martha Stewart Glitter Glue (I love this stuff) and fine glitter.

After adding the glue and the glitter, I was able to shake off the extra….and…..

I hope that Bella and her mom love the invitations and she has the most amazing third birthday ever.

Hello world!

Ever since graduating in graphic design, I have done freelance work designing logos and marketing material for various companies and organizations. About two years ago, I started my Etsy shop, which my husband can affirm, is a true addiction for me! Over the last year, I have added yet another business with a partner Katherine, Kori and Kate, a design company specializing in Photoshop templates for photographers.

Now, we have a son on the way! He should be welcomed into the world in early December. This has caused me to refocus my Etsy shop, which for once now consolidates my love of design! I am so very excited to offer Holiday Cards, Photo Cards, Invitations, Announcements, and more!

Here are a few of my Holiday Cards on Etsy! Click on the link at the right (or on the Shop Page) of the blog to get to my Shop!
